So another week has passed and I have to admit it has been a fun and exciting week (even for a short week)!  With some minor glitches, phones are up, projectors are "projecting", and laptop can find the Internet.  All good things in a school... I had to remind myself that this is a TEMPORARY location.  Just like the Principal said..." It's time for the busses already?" this last Monday.  It's been that way all week, I think. Technology Tidbits... All district phones call now be called by their four (4) number extensions from inside the district.  I remeber when it was possible to call almost anywhere in Vermont on sever digits, so four is almost like going back to the '60's... (Whoops, I might be dating myself....) So, just to see how good you are with OLD technology, I'm placing a few "out-dated"  objects here... One of the big problems with "traditional"  projector configurations is the limitations placed on a presenter (the person trying to show something).  Usually that person is limited by cords and things to how far away from a projector they can go.  In other words, that person is like the man above, with very little movement, like they were attached to a ball and chain. I would like to free teachers (and students) from those cords.  This time with new technology to the rescue! I have two new Chromecast devices, and I'm willing to give one each out to a teacher's class that can tell me (in one page at most) why they should be my choice to try it.  Kind of a friendly competition, with two winner's getting these devices for their projectors.  Anyone can enter this competition, groups or classes are encouraged as well.   Hint: You might want to look up Chromcast to get some ideas.  I'm looking for your suggestions, and I will pick two different winners

Headline: Technology Held Hostage! Sometimes technology invites creativity.  Here you can see a Projector with it's support frame in place as if it was going to hang from a ceiling, "bound" by rope, on an empty binder, on-top of a wooden box, on a milk crate!  All this to allow "mobility" and wall projection. When projectors are "hung" from a ceiling, a support frame is used most off to allow then to be "hung"  (or suspended) at an adjustable height.  The support frame is attached to the base of the projector, so the output is "flipped" (turned upside-down).  If you look closely on the front of the projector in the picture, you'll see "Epson" upside-down. By doing a "reset" on the projector (from the Menu), it's possible to "flip" the picture back, and now you have a "regular" projector!

Tech Times Hi Everyone! Welcome to this years version of most of Hyde Park Elementary School in Morrisville (HPES@Plaza).  Also to the 6th graders, living the "high life", at the Tech. Center, you are not forgotten. Let me introduce myself, I'm Mike Lambert and I'm the new Technology Coordinator for Hyde Park.  I'm a Systems Engineer with many (40+) years experience in Technology, including business systems and education.  I've been "around" since mainframe computer days and have worked on many projects ranging from enabling TCP/IP audio in the New York Subway, to creating state wide video systems, and lots of school networking.  I'm a former President of VITA-Learn, and I'm active in technology at many levels.
